Bill Gate’s motto is “if you can’t screw them then cheat them or buy them.” That’s what Microsoft is planning on doing with social media. Barely anyone uses Bing and no one has used any of Microsoft’s previous social media tools. Interestingly enough Microsoft owns a stake in Facebook and previously owned a major stake in Apple.
Well the old men at Microsoft aren’t about to grab their ankles on this one – or maybe they’re into that kind of thing but I’m not a journalist so I don’t have to care. Cosmonavigator.wordpress.com found a leaked screenshot of the new site Tulaip (named after an Indian tribe near Microsoft’s headquarters). The tagline, “find what you need and share what you know easier than ever.”
If they could intertwine social media and search in a way that would synergistically allow people to improve and share information they could create something incredible for society. But it’s Microsoft, they’re going to use it for evil.
